Finding Prenatal Care In Cherry Hill, NJ

You know that you’re pregnant, and you’re considering your options. No matter what you ultimately choose, receiving proper prenatal (“before birth”) care is crucial, both for your own health and that of your baby.

But even after the passage of Obamacare, 41.8 million Americans are still uninsured. Health care still costs money and, in many cases, the annual fine for not purchasing insurance is lower than the insurance itself.

If You Still Need Health Insurance

If you don’t have health insurance, but think you can afford it, this year’s enrollment period begins on November 15th. Visit healthcare.gov to learn more about signing up.

After you’ve created an account, you can view plans offered in your area and purchase the one that works for you. The best thing is that insurers can no longer deny you coverage, just because you’re pregnant.

If You Can’t Afford Health Insurance

Every state government recognizes that proper health care is essential for pregnant women. New Jersey is no different, and there are many state-funded programs and health clinics that offer ongoing prenatal care at no charge.

In Camden County, there are ten community health centers that offer “pay-what-you-can” prenatal care. All are run by the “Cam Care Health Corporation.” The main office is here:

  • Cam Care Health Corporation
    2610 Federal Street
    Camden, NJ 08105
    (856) 635-0203

and there are other offices in Paulsboro and Clementon. You can find a full list with addresses and phone numbers here.

NJ FamilyCare

New Jersey also runs a program called FamilyCare that offers eligible pregnant women insurance coverage for the entirety of their pregnancy and then 60 days afterward. So instead of going to a “pay-what-you-can” clinic, you could choose from a list of participating doctors and have the cost paid by the state.
