It isn’t uncommon for women to get pregnant in college and have children.

Finding out that you are pregnant while in college can be scary and you may not know what to do next. Here are three tips to help you navigate pregnancy in college.

1. PLAN

Planning for a baby is crucial in any circumstance. One of the best ways to ensure that you are staying on top of your classes, but still taking care of yourself and your baby is to write things down in a planner. Create a schedule for yourself and stick to it religiously. Set aside some time to plan appointments, errands, and study time.

2. BUDGETING

College is expensive, and having a child is even more costly. Come up with a budget for yourself, and plan out what you will need to spend on childcare, school expenses, and yourself. Many people make the mistake of just buying things as you go, instead of creating a budget. Assembling a budget will give you an idea of how much income you need and how much you should spend.

3. TALK TO YOUR PROFESSORS AND ADVISORS

Asking your professors for help will go a long way when you’re dealing with deadlines for assignments. Also, numerous colleges have programs where they offer daycare and other services to assist moms that are in enrolled school. Reach out to offices around your campus to find out more information on how you can receive assistance.
